How did you start your polymer clay business, and how long have you been doing it?
Ever since I was young I have loved drawing, particularly in the cartoon style. Then at about age 9 I received a pack of fimo clay for Christmas and just fell in love with making models and being able to turn my cartoon style characters into 3d versions.

All through my adult life I have worked with polymer clay as a hobby and when my children were old enough I enjoyed introducing them to it. My ten year old daughter in particular is very arty and enjoys making her own models and designs. My shelves are full of her little gifts to me just as my own mothers were with the things I’d made her!

About a year and a half ago I started making personalised pictures just for family and the children of friends, then people started asking me to make different themes and ideas and wanting to pay me for it! So using a combination of my children’s names my own little business was born!

What do you love most about your handmade business?
In August this year I opened my shop on Etsy and things are going well, hopefully in the coming year it will grow and turn more into a part time job as now my children are older I have more time to devote to it and can combine doing something I love with being a stay at home mum. Which I think must really be what every mum wants if they can manage it.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Most of my inspiration comes from my love of art and cute and quirky animals / creatures. Living in Scotland I take inspiration from some of the animals here, my little highland coos are one of my favourite to make and have been popular in my shop and locally. I also use tartan patterns alot in my card making and picture making.

Outside of crafting what else do you enjoy doing?
Outside of my crafting , I’m a typical, busy mum of two.

Is there any thing else you would like to share?
As a family we love going skiing when we can & walking, especially when we go and visit family in the beautiful west highlands. We own a playful, fun cockapoo pup and he keeps me pretty busy too!

How did you start creating your jewelry, and how long have you been doing it?
I have always enjoyed making things and as a child I used to make clothes for my dolls, moving on to knit and sew for myself as a teenager. Crafting went on the back burner for a few years, when I married and had children. Although I did love helping my kids with their school projects!

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Crafting came back into my life when I moved up to Scotland from England. I started making greetings cards and graduated into ATC’s, getting involved in international swaps. I moved onto jewellery after having made some altered art dominoes and wondering how I could make them into wearble art. I started making beaded jewellery but wanted more satisfaction for my work and I came across polymerclay which enabled me to put my own creativity into the pieces I was making.

What do you love most about your jewelry business?
I love having the freedom to create jewellery from scratch either inspired by the wonderful polymer clay artists in the world such as Donna Kato, Melanie Muir and Shannon Tabor and the wonderful flora and fauna of Scotland.
